The upper portion of the podium has a pattern and material change to accentuate the different uses and programme within this part of the building. The podium has a more traditional presence in its character and massing. The podium is the base upon which the building rests. As it rises, the building sheds off traditional materials revealing more glass, steel and metal cladding. The building is framed with a metal ribbon or canopy, a unique architectural device that expresses and unites the various uses of this complex mixed-use building. It hovers over the Heritage Theatre façade, then carries above the storefronts, around the balance of the podium and continues up and around. It then rises along the side of the tower and finishes at the top of the building with a strong roofline projected against the skyline. It is at this highest level that this iconic tower, with its strong architectural expression, will speak to the rest of the City of Brampton.
The ribbon that unites the building programme is a metaphor that represents the manner in which the City of Brampton unites its residents.
